Your Life’s Most Important Job

Dear friend, do you know that every believer shares one key assignment? And that is to proclaim the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to the world. As a believer, you are not just saved from something; you are saved for something. You are called, equipped, and sent as a witness. This is the non-negotiable calling upon every believer in Christ Jesus.

You might sometimes feel too weak, busy, or scared. But the truth is that God’s power is already at work in you. This is the same power that heals and sets free. “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me…” (Acts 1:8). God’s power to heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out devils and set the captives free is always at work in you. See Matthew 10:7-8 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give”.

God Himself works in you, giving you both the desire and strength to do His will. And His greatest desire is that everyone be saved. “Who will have all men to be saved…” (1 Timothy 2:4).

Friend, one day, we all will stand before God to give account of how we have spent our time here on earth. “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God” (Romans 14:12). And on that day, excuses like “I was too shy” or “too busy” will not hold. What will matter is whether you brought people to Him or did everything He asked you to do.

If you feel no desire to reach the lost, may be you should ask yourself why. Usually, amongst many other reasons, I found out that it’s also any or both of these two reasons:

1. You are probably not yielding to God’s power that is at work within you. “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do…” (Philippians 2:13). God’s power is at work in you to preach Jesus Christ.

2. You are probably not living in consistent fellowship with Jesus Christ. If you truly want to get to know God for yourself and experience more of Him in and through your life, you MUST begin to take your personal time of fellowship with God seriously. Now, for some people, it’s not that they are not exactly spending time with God, they probably are not just doing so consistently. You see, spiritual growth comes through consistency, by abiding daily with him.

See what Jesus said in John 15:4-8,

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.  If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.”

Just start or continue from where you are at now, and decide to take your fellowship with God one day at a time seriously and consistently. You must decide to always fellowship with God daily, and stop yielding to excuses, else you won’t grow. As you keep spending time with God in prayers and in the studying of His word daily, you’ll gradually begin to mature in the fruit of the Spirit, and also get to understand His compassionate heart for people. You’ll see yourself growing to love and care about what He loves and cares about: He cares about You, He cares about People and He very much cares about the Lost. He said in Luke 19:10 “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost”.

Stop allowing the devil to keep whispering to your mind, “You’re not ready,” “You’re not enough,” “You’re too busy,” “You don’t know much in the Bible,”. All because he fears what God can do through you, a yielded vessel. You must never give in to the lies of the devil. The Bible says in James 4:7 “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”. You must constantly resist the devil and step out in faith.

Friend, God is calling you right where you are. Your mission field is your family, your workplace, your school, your business, your platform and your neighborhood. Look around! Jesus said, “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest” (John 4:35).

You can reach people for Jesus Christ by living a Godly lifestyle, also with your words, your kindness, your skills, your career, your talents, your gifts, your platforms, your business, your resources, your influence, your help, and the story of how Jesus changed your life. “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

And finally, know this, that our work doesn’t just end by getting someone saved. Jesus Christ tells us to make disciples. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…” (Matthew 28:19-20). We are to help them get filled with the Holy-Spirit and connect them with a Bible-believing church family, so they can begin to hear the teaching of God’s word, thus gradually begin to grow up spiritually through the revelation knowledge of God’s word.

Dear friend, you have to stop listening to fear. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). Every earthly possession or accomplishment you ever own will eventually fade away. It is only what you do for God’s Kingdom that will last eternally. “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36).

The time is now. “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:16).
