What We Believe
THE BIBLE
We believe that the Bible – both Old and New Testament – is the inspired Word of God, the product of holy men of old who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
Scripture Reference: 2 Tim. 3:16; 1 Thess. 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21
THE GODHEAD – THE TRINITY
We believe that our God is One, but manifested in three Persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, being coequal.
Scripture Reference: John 14:16; John 15:26, Deut. 6:4; Phil. 2:6, John 14:28; John 16:28; John 1:14, John 1:1; John 1:18; John 1:14
MAN’S FALL AND REDEMPTION
We believe that man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God. But through Adam’s transgression and fall, sin came into the world. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to destroy the works of the devil, and He gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore mankind back to God.
Scripture Reference: Eph. 2:8-10, Rom. 3:10; 3:23, Rom. 5:14; 1 John 3:8
ETERNAL LIFE AND THE NEW BIRTH
We believe that man’s first step toward salvation is godly sorrow that leads to repentance. The New Birth is necessary for all men, and when experienced, produces eternal life. The way to eternal life is to be Born Again which is confessing the Lordship of Jesus and believing in the heart that God raised Him from the dead. We believe that Jesus is ONLY way to the Father and to salvation.
Scripture Reference: 2 Cor. 7:10; John 3:3–5; Rom. 10: 9-10, 1 John 5:12, John 14: 6
SANCTIFICATION
We believe in the Doctrine of Sanctification as both definite and progressive. Commencing at the time of regeneration and continuing until the consummation of salvation at Christ’s return. The Bible teaches that without holiness no man can see the Lord.
Scripture Reference: Heb. 12:14; 1 Thess. 5:23; 2 Peter 3:18; 2 Cor. 3:18; Phil. 3:12–14; 1 Cor. 1:30
BAPTISMS
We believe that there are three main kinds of baptisms necessary for every believer. The first being baptism into the body of Christ through the new birth. The second being water baptism as a physical demonstration of the first. We believe that baptism in water is by immersion, is a direct commandment of our Lord, and is for believers only.
The third kind is the Baptism in the Holy Spirit which is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers in this dispensation and is received subsequent to the New Birth. We believe this experience is accompanied by the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit Himself gives utterance.
Scripture Reference: Matt. 28:19; Rom. 6:4; Col. 2:12; Acts 8:36-39, Matt. 3:11; John 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:38-39; Acts 19:1-7; Acts 2:1-4
DIVINE HEALING
We believe that healing is for the physical diseases of the human body and is brought about by the power of God through faith and/or the manifestations of the Holy Spirit. It is provided for in the redemption of Christ and is the privilege of every member of the Church today.
Scripture Reference: James 5:14-15; Mark 16:18; Isa. 53:4-5; Matt. 8:17; 1 Peter 2:24
PROSPERITY
We believe that it is God’s will for every believer to prosper financially and materially. Material prosperity is also provided for in the redemption of Christ. It is both for the benefit of the believer and for the benefit of the spread of the gospel. We believe that every believer ought to be responsible givers and when they do, it will be given back to them.
Scripture Reference: 3 Jn 2, .2 Cor. 8: 1-9, 9: 6-9, Phil. 4: 19, Luk. 6: 38, Deut. 8: 18, Gal. 3: 13-14
NEW TESTAMENT WORSHIP
We believe that worship in the New Testament is different from that in the Old Testament. Just like Jesus said, true worshippers are those who worship in spirit and truth.
Hence, we believe that our worship to God should not include carnal display of dancing, but expressions of Joy as inspired by the Holy Spirit. Our worship should include lifting holy hands to God instead of applauding God. It should also include singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs making melody in our hearts to the Lord. We believe that our worship should be done in awe and in reverence for God.
Scripture Reference: John 4: 24, Eph. 5: 18-20, Col. 3: 16, 1 Cor. 14: 26-40, 1 Tim. 2: 8
WALKING IN LOVE
We believe that God through Christ Jesus has poured His love into our hearts making us love beings. We believe we should love people with the Love of God. We know that we are Christians because of the Love of God in our hearts. Therefore, we believe that it is unchristian to cures our enemies or pray for ill against them. We believe like Jesus said that we should “bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.”
Scripture Reference: Matt. 5: 43-48, Rom. 5: 5, 1 Cor. 13: 4-8, 1 John 3: 14, 4: 7-8
WALKING BY FAITH
We believe that the Just or righteous man or woman should live by faith. Faith is important to the life of a believer. Faith is how we access all the benefits of the redemptive work of Christ. Without faith it is impossible to please God.
Scripture Reference: Heb. 11: 1-6, Gal. 3: 11, Mark 11: 23-24, James 1: 5-7
THE CHURCH
We believe in the power and importance of the Church and in how necessary it is for believers to meet regularly for fellowship in the Word, prayer and the ‘breaking of bread.
The church is a place where every believer is expected to grow and discover their God-given gifts. The Church works together in love and unity with the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ.
Scripture Reference: Heb. 10: 25, 12: 18-24, Psalm 133: 1-3, 1 Cor. 12 Php. 4: 10-20,
RESURRECTION OF THE JUST
We believe in the resurrection of the dead. We believe that Jesus who died once, resurrected in body. We believe that when He comes, “The dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.”
Scripture Reference: Acts 1:11; 1 Thess. 4:16-17
JESUS’ RETURN AND THE ETERNAL STATE
We believe that after the Tribulation, Jesus will return to earth as King of kings, and Lord of lords, and together with His saints, who shall be kings and priests, He will reign a thousand years. After the thousand years, there will be a New heaven and a New Earth and we will be with the Lord forever.
Scripture Reference: Rev. 5:10; 20:6, 21, 22
HELL AND ETERNAL RETRIBUTION
We believe that anyone who physically dies in his sins without accepting Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost in the lake of fire and, therefore, has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or repenting. We believe that the lake of fire is literal. The terms “eternal” and “everlasting,” used in describing the duration of the punishment of the damned in the lake of fire, carry the same thought and meaning of endless existence as used in denoting the duration of joy and ecstasy of saints in the Presence of God
Scripture Reference: Heb. 9:27; Rev. 19:20
