Everyday Mission: Your Simple Guide to Sharing Jesus

Start Here: You Are Already a Missionary

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16).

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ, take another look around you. The people you work with, your neighbors, your friends, your family, even those you connect with online. These aren’t just people in your day. They are your purpose. They are the very reason you are where you are.

You see, your daily life isn’t separate from your ministry, it is your ministry. Your job isn’t just for a salary; it’s your platform. Your business isn’t just for income; it’s for influence. Your social media isn’t just for sharing life updates; it’s for sharing light. And your everyday conversations? They’re not small talk. They are eternal opportunities to tell others about Jesus Christ.

This article is your simple guide to sharing Jesus in normal life. It will help you take small steps to show God’s love to others.

Why Should I Share My Faith?

Love Makes You Want to Share

Sharing your faith starts in your heart. Think about these three simple reasons:

  1. Thankfulness – “For Christ’s love compels us” (2 Corinthians 5:14). Jesus changed your life. When you’re truly thankful, you naturally want others to know about Him.
  2. Compassion – “Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter” (Proverbs 24:11). People around you are hurting. You have hope to share. Love doesn’t stay quiet when it can help.
  3. Because Jesus Said To – “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15). Jesus told all His followers to share the good news. It’s not just for pastors. It’s for you too.

This Week: Pray this simple prayer every morning: “God, help me see one person today who needs Your love.”

Your Mission Fields

Your Job Is Your Mission Field

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters” (Colossians 3:23).

Your workplace is where God has placed you. Here’s how you can also show Jesus there:

  • Do your work well – When you work hard, people notice.
  • Be honest – Always tell the truth, even when it’s hard.
  • Help others – “Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people” (Ephesians 6:7).
  • Stay peaceful – “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).

Try This Week: Pick one task at work and do it exceptionally well. See what happens.

Sharing About Jesus Online

“Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone” (Colossians 4:6).

Your phone and social media are mission fields too.

Three Simple Rules Online:

  1. Be real – “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
  2. Be kind – Talk with people, not at them
  3. Share hope – Post things that point to Jesus

What if someone is mean online?
“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger” (Proverbs 15:1). Don’t fight back. Be kind. Sometimes the best response is no response – and praying for them instead.

Try This Week: Post one Bible verse that helped you this week. Or share how God helped you with something.

Talking to Strangers

“Be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15).

The person in line at the store, in the cab with you or your server at a restaurant – these might be divine appointments.

How to Start a Spiritual Conversation:

  1. Smile and ask: “How’s your day going?”
  2. Really listen to their answer
  3. If they seem open, say: “That reminds me of how Jesus helped me…”
  4. Ask: “Can I pray for you about that?”

Remember: You’re planting seeds. God makes them grow. “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow” (1 Corinthians 3:6).

Try This Week: Go to one public place. Have one spiritual conversation. Start with a smile.

Simple Tools You Already Have

Your Story Is Powerful

“Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story” (Psalm 107:2).

Your story matters. You don’t need to know everything about the Bible. Just share what Jesus has done for you.

Your 3-Minute Story:

  • Before: “My life before Jesus was…”
  • How: “I met Jesus when…”
  • After: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Practice telling your story. It’s yours – no one can argue with it.

Answering Questions Simply

People will ask questions. When it comes to answering some hard questions when you are out there, always depend on the Holy-Spirit to help you answer. And if you can’t answer right there, simply say, I’ll get back to you on that. Don’t allow them to take your time with unnecessary questions. Be discerning, and just simply move on. Remember, you don’t have to win arguments. Just share the truths of God’s word with love.

The Power of Prayer

“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (James 5:16). Prayer is your secret weapon. Spend quality time praying in the Spirit.

You Can Also Pray These Simple Prayers in Your Own Understanding:

  • “God, open a door for me to share today.”
  • “Holy Spirit, give me the right words.”
  • “Jesus, draw (person’s name) to Yourself.”

Try This: Keep a small list of people you’re praying for.

When Things Feel Hard

What If I’m Scared?

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

It’s normal to feel scared. Its’s just a feeling. Even Bible heroes were afraid sometimes. But never give in to fear.

When fear comes:

  • Remember: “I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20)
  • “The Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say” (Luke 12:12)
  • Start small – a smile, a kind word, then more
  • You don’t have to be perfect – just willing
Not Everyone Will Say Yes

“Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed” (Mark 4:3). People respond differently to Jesus. That’s okay. Jesus told a story about this:

Four kinds of people:

  1. Hard soil – Not interested right now. “Satan comes and takes away the word” (Mark 4:15).
  2. Rocky soil – Excited at first, then fades. “They last only a short time” (Mark 4:17).
  3. Thorny soil – Believes but life gets in the way. “The worries of this life choke the word” (Mark 4:19).
  4. Good soil – Says yes and grows. “They hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop” (Mark 4:20).

Your job: Be faithful in sharing the Gospel with love. God’s job: Change hearts.

Talking About Your Faith Naturally

Talking about your faith on Christ doesn’t have to be awkward. Sometimes, you just need a simple way to start. Here are three questions that can help guide any spiritual conversation.

Have you ever made a personal commitment to Jesus? If yes: celebrate. If no or unsure: ask permission to share about Jesus Christ with the person.

Have you received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit? Be gentle. Use simple relevant scriptures to explain the Holy-Spirit is God’s power living in the Believer. Acts 1:8.

Do you attend a Bible-Believing Church? If no: explain the need to belong to a Bible-believing church and invite them to your church. Hebrews 10:25.

Caring About the Whole World

“Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). God loves people everywhere. You can help reach the world:

  • GO – Go on Evangelism, Outreaches, Short mission trips or use your job skills overseas to reach out to people.

  • SEND – Give generously towards outreaches, missions and missionaries.

  • PRAY – Pray for the lost, missionaries, missions, open doors for the Gospel and for people to say “yes” to Jesus Christ.

  • MOBILIZE – Tell a believer like you about missions, help such understand that he or she has a role to play in the Great Commission.
You Can Do This

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

You have everything you need to share Jesus:

  • The Holy Spirit to help you
  • Your own story of what Jesus did for you
  • People in your life who need to hear about Jesus

Heaven will be filled with people “from every nation, tribe, and language” (Revelation 7:9). You get to help fill it. Start small. Take one step this week.

There are many out there that still needs to hear about Jesus Christ. You have Him. Don’t keep Him to yourself.

Your mission starts today. Right where you are.

You are God’s plan for reaching the people around you. You can do this.

“The gospel is only good news if it gets there in time.” – Carl F. H. Henry

“The spirit of Christ is the spirit of missions. The nearer we get to Him, the more intensely missionary we become.” – Henry Martyn

“You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving.” – Amy Carmichael

Dear friend, you are not ordinary. You are anointed for this moment. Set apart. Filled with the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead. That power lives in you. God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called. And you are called. You are a living epistle, written by the Spirit of God (2 Corinthians 3:3). People are reading your life every single day. What does your life preach? The time for hesitation is over. Hell isn’t waiting. Heaven is recording. History is being written through obedient hearts. You were saved for such a time as this.

So go. Speak. Post. Pray. Serve. Love.

You are equipped. You are called. You are sent.

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.” Isaiah 60:1.
